more produce, ped visit, and a book

I got my produce box today. It looks so tasty! This week I got: Rio Grapefruit, Valencia Oranges, Spinach, Assorted Salad Mix, Leeks, Strawberries, Bibb Lettuce, Baby Beets, Microgreens, Curly Kale

I haven't yet decided whether or not to go for the leeks or the beets tonight. Beets are so gorgeous on a plate.

I took Lola to her 9 month check up today. It was kind of horrible. After the horror of her 2-month vaxes at her crappy former ped's office, we haven't gotten any since. We decided to get the Pc vaccine today. They also wanted to check her iron levels since she's still pretty much exclusively breastfed. As I expected, she was not pleased with either of these decisions. Being the dramatic child that she is, my poor baby screamed until she started hyperventilating. She's passed out in my lap now, the poor little thing.

In other news, I've decided to write a book about postpartum body image. I've started searching for and interviewing mommies who love their postpartum bodies to find out how they got to that point. It's been really fun and interesting so far, but I have so very far to go. It's really hard to find mamas who are happy with their bodies, which, of course, is the reason for the book. The whole collecting/analyzing data thing kind of makes me miss grad school a bit. But only a very little bit. It's so much more fun to do it on my own.

Inspired by mrs_animosity, i signed up with an organic delivery service. Yesterday I received my first box of local organic produce.

We had some of the lettuce, escarole, green onions and microgreens in chicken wraps last night. They were so yummy. We also devoured all the strawberries for dessert. Tonight I'm tackling the kale and beet greens. We'll have a pot of mixed stewed greens with sausage and corn meal dumplings. Now I need to figure out what to do with that enormous head of cabbage...
